Be the Village

Nobody hands you a village when you become a mother. You have to build one, or find the women who are willing to become it.
Be the Village exists because postpartum was never meant to be carried alone, and for most women right now, it is.

What It Is

A group of women who've agreed, in advance, to show up for a mother in her fourth trimester. Not with advice. Not with "let me know if you need anything." With a meal at the door, a hand with the baby so she can shower, thirty quiet minutes so she can close her eyes.
Real needs, met by real people, without her having to ask, explain, or coordinate any of it herself.

Why It Exists

The women who used to show up for new mothers, a family down the street, a neighbor who just knew, are further away than they used to be, or gone. The instinct to help hasn't disappeared. The structure that used to carry it has.
Be the Village rebuilds that structure. On purpose, instead of by accident.

Who It's For

Every mother deserves a village. If you're pregnant or newly postpartum in our community, this is one of the ways IMMA makes sure you're not carrying the fourth trimester by yourself.
If you're a woman who's ever thought, "I wish I could do more for the mothers around me," this is where that instinct becomes an action. You don't need to be a mother yourself. You need to be willing to show up.
